The National Alliance on Mental Illness(NAMI)
will begin a Peer-to-Peer unique, experimental learning program for people with any serious mental illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery. This is a consumer led class of three mentors for nine weeks. The course will be Thursday's, August 28th thru October 30th from

The South Morgan Volunteer Fire Company is holding their Annual Dinner & Yard Party on Saturday the 30th, starting at Noon. Ham and chicken dinners will be served from 1-7pm. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for kids. Dessert and beverage included. There is an auction beginning at 7pm and it'll be held indoors. There will also be live bluegrass music by Five-of-a-Kind and games. This happens at the fire hall which is 10 miles south of Berkeley Springs, on Rt.13, Winchester Grade Road. The Brucetown United Methodist Church is having a Yard Party on Saturday the 30th starting at 4pm. Country ham or pit cooked bbq chicken dinners will be served. White Hall United Methodist Church is holding their 30th Annual Fall Festival/Yard Party on Saturday the 30th. Homemade food will be served starting at 3:30pm. The silent auction begins at 3:30pm. Sportsplex is holding their 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Winchester Exchange Club Child-Parent Center. It happens on Friday the 12th but you need to register by Friday the 5th. the tournament happens at Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Club in Front Royal. Sign-in is at 11am and the shotgun start is at 1pm. The format is shotgun start and captain's choice w/an A & B flight. There'll be over $10,000 in prizes and giveaways. The cost is $295 per foursome and that includes beverages, food, greens fee, cart, range balls, players gift bag and a free round of golf at Blue Ridge. The 3rd Annual American Cancer Society's DogsWalk Against Cancer is happening on Saturday the 6th at Clearbrook Park in Frederick County from 8:30 - 11am. The Family Day Fishing Rodeo is happening at Wilkins Lake in Jim Barnett Park in Winchester on Saturday the 6th from 7-11am. The Virginia Draft Horse & Mule Association prsents the Old Dominion Horse Show at Comonwealth Park in Culpeper on Saturday the 6th with the openeing ceremony at 8am. Exhibitors from Virginia, Maryland,North Carolina and other states will compete in this show of heavy horses, donkeys and mules. Horses and mules will do double-duty by showing in halter and riding classes and later harness up for pulling events like log skidding or hitched to show wagons, carts and antique farm equipment. DVDs4Vets is a non-profit charity that arranges for the collection and donation of new & used dvd's for the benefit of veterans, many of whom cannot get them on their own.
